Going
Nomad...
As many
of you know, Alaskan Nomad Productions has opened offices in Los Angeles!
So if it weren't already official by the amount of globe-trotting
we do, having offices in more than one state should cement our nomad
moniker. And as if opening a new office weren't enough, just look
what else we've been up to:
We've started pre-production on our next feature film project - an
intelligent, multi-layered and (dare we say) brutal horror film called
Rain Bringer. This is the good stuff. If you're a fan of the genre,
you'll love it. If you're not a fan of the genre, you'll still love
it because the story is amazing (it's just that you'll have to close
your eyes at the parts where it gets too terrifying). We've launched
a site for the film so you can learn all about it and chart its progress,
check that out here.
We're also excited to announce our first television commercial production
in Sweden. Produced by HampusMedia in Stockholm, we had a great time
making waves for the Real Estate company "Notar" with a
funny, controversial spot. I also learned that directing and shooting
film in the dead of winter in Sweden can teach a guy a lot of things.
Like that Alaska hasn't cornered the market on snow. Or cold. Yeah.
But it was a great time in a truly amazing country and we look forward
to more Scandinavian co-productions in the future.
We've had a number of other commercial productions as well, crafting
some spiffy new ads for the Walsh, Sheppard, Flynn Agency. Two of
the new ads (for MTA and Spenard Builder's Supply) have been uploaded
to our newly renovated Projects Section,
so you can download them and have a look. (And, oh yeah, we've newly
renovated our Project's Section. So it's a lot easier to navigate
now and watch things.)
On the music video front, a slammin' extravaganza we recently completed
for Industrial Entertainment rapper The Bailbondsman turned out to
be another big hit. It's currently playing on both MTV Hits and BET,
so keep your eyes peeled.
Lastly, we've have some great reports from the road. I was lucky enough
to get contracted out by DTS Sound and
Images (yup, the digital surround-sound maestros) to be their
filmmaker liaison at the Sundance Film Festival. It was my first trip
to Park City, but definitely not my last. I had a great time, saw
some great films and met some great people. Lots of reasons to go
back.
This also marked Alaskan Nomad Productions second year at the South
by Southwest (SXSW) Film and Music festival in Austin. One of the
flat-out greatest indie festivals out there, with both great films
and great music. Austin knows how to throw a party, so for those of
you who haven't been to SXSW be sure to put it on your list. I've
got some detailed reviews and updates from both festivals in my blog
on the Rain Bringer site, so
be sure to check that out here.
As always, thanks for stopping by. Enjoy the site while you're here
and check back again soon.
